A taste of Georgia

Wine made in clay, in the ground.

Georgia has 8,000 years of winemaking history. Wine remains part of everyday hospitality, shared with food and company around the table.

Much of it is still made in a qvevri, a clay vessel buried in the ground. Grapes ferment and rest through the winter while the earth keeps the temperature steady. White grapes left on their skins produce amber wines with tannin and savoury flavours. Saperavi is a red grape to know. Rkatsiteli is a white.
